People come to this country seeking asylum, it gets refused and they are still in the country. They then complain that this is not a safe country just becuase they didn’t get asylum. We’re full up and we’re too soft.

We played quite well but we just seemed a little one paced against a good Fulham side. With Bale well marked, we didn’t seem to be able to break Fulham down and the combination of Crouch and Pavlyuchenko just didn’t work. We got a favourable draw in the semi’s so perhaps that will inspire us to really go for it in the replay.

Player Breakdown

• Gomes – Looked pretty solid again
• Corluka – Did I leave the gas on ?
• Bassong – Eventually shackled Zamora
• Dawson – Solid enough
• Assou-Ekotto – Either supremely confident or nervous though either way too casual by half
• Kranjcar – Had a sharp shot in the first half but otherwise a bit listless
• Modric – Played in the centre of midfield and was neat and tidy
• Palacios – Worked hard
• Bale – Played well but was quite restricted due to being double marked
• Pavlyuchenko – You can see why ‘Arry doesn’t play him after this performance
• Crouch – Busy though a little ineffectual
• Subs – Defoe not enough time to make an impact

We certainly rode our luck in this game, playing well in the first half and hanging on for grim death in the second. There were passages in the first half where we played some of the best football I’ve seen us play for a long time. Second half we got twitchy and nervous (just like ‘Arry) and I think if Donovan had not missed that sitter, we might have struggled to win the game.

Players breakdown

• Gomes – Looked a little bit more uncertain than of late
• Corluka – And I thought George Graham was called stroller
• Bassong – A mistake waiting to happen
• Dawson – did a lot to stop us losing the game
• Bale – Great going forward, a little bit more suspect when defending
• Kranjcar – Back on form
• Modric – His best game for a long while, scored a great goal
• Palacios – Very wasteful in possession
• Huddlestone – The game seemed to pass him buy
• Defoe – Lazy and annoying
• Pavlyuchenko – Scored again and linked up play well
• Subs – Kaboul was dreadful, Gudjohnsen couldn’t get into the game and Crouch only saw the last few minutes

Politicians in the country just don’t get it that we’re fed up with playground style politics. Instead of putting forward what exactly they’re going to do, they spend their time bad mouthing their opponents. What’s William Hague on about with this lot ?

Whatever Owen Coyle says, Bolton are a put out a poor side and I’d expect Tottenham to give them a bit of a tonking. If your’re talking about goals return then you’d have to say Pavlyuchenko should now get the nod over Crouch but he has flattered to deceive before. We’ve got a difficult game against Fulham next although with Roman is shining form, it will be a difficult game for them.
