BBC SPORT | Golf | Dominant Woods seals USPGA title
Tiger’s only six behind Jack Nicklaus’ record of eighteen and there doesn’t seem to be any reason why he won’t beat the record.
BBC SPORT | Football | Premiership | Bolton 2-0 Tottenham
A very poor first half cost us this game. We let Bolton dominate us and couldn’t seem to find a suitable tempo to counter them. Second half we had more of the ball but failed to create enough chances to get back in the game.
All the things we did badly last year (not supporting the man in possession, hitting the ball to long and so on), we did again today. We should be beating teams like Bolton if we’re going to be serious contenders.
BBC SPORT | Football | Internationals | Gerrard handed right-sided role
One of the so-called arguments used against Beckham was that he didn’t go past people. So what does McLaren do ? Play Gerrard, who’s hardly known for his ability to go past people, down the right hand side. I despair.
I thought Lennon and Wright-Phillips had been included for their dribbling ability down the right hand side ?
BBC SPORT | Football | Internationals | McClaren ends Beckham England era
This reminds me of the way Glenn Hoddle was treated by Bobby Robson after the 1988 European Championship. Hoddle was blamed for the failure of the team in that championship.
I remember Robson being under a lot of pressure to put Hoddle in the team (he preferred Neil Webb !). After we exited the tournament, Robson couldn’t seem to wait to blame Hoddle even though other senior players had terrible tournaments.
Now Beckham seems to be the scapegoat for the last World Cup fiasco. Even if he is not first choice, he should be in the squad. I think this is more a statement against the old management rather than a thought out football decision.
Are Phil Neville and Jermaine Jenas worth their place more than Beckham ?
