Busted flushes

Russia were very disappointing in this game, showing very little winkle and generally lacking the will to win. Spain were excellent although they didn’t look in any trouble at any time as Russia failed live up to the potential of the previous two games. Arshavin in particular looked a busted flush.

Talking of busted flushes our current Labour government look like they’re scraping the bottom of the legislative barrel. It is introducing a positive discrimination law that will mean employers can choose women or people from ethnic minorities over white males in the event of needing to decide who they take on if the candidates are of the same calibre.

So white men will then be discriminated against but that will be ok because it’s all their fault in the first place.

I’ve always voted Labour. They are now a busted flush after letting us down again and again so they won’t be getting my vote next time.

Lucky, lucky, boys

Once again Germany show their resilience and ride their luck to get into the final of Euro 2008. Turkey were desperately unlucky not to get the win. The Germans seem to be able to do what ever it takes to win a game. The only quality player they have is Ballack (and he’s not all that) and still they have the mental strength to get a result. They must be favourites simply because they’re German.

I bet everyone is glad of the breather

BBC SPORT | Golf | Woods has successful knee surgery

Tiger woods won’t be around for the next six months to a year after his surgery. Knowing him he’ll probably come back fitter and stronger and carry on winning everything again. So all the other players have a chance to up their game and get ready to meet the challenge head on. Or perhaps they won’t. No one could beat him when he had a dodgy knee and broken leg so what chance will they have when he’s back and fit again.

For the sake of golf, every other one of his nearest challenges (who aren’t actually very near at all) must do better.
