Sandown 2008

Another great day at Sandown. Didn’t win a bean but Shah did OK.

Smash and grab

BBC SPORT | Football | Premier League | Chelsea 1-1 Tottenham

When you’ve started as badly as we have,  a point against a team like Chelsea is always a bonus. The fact that we had to defend for most of the game and never really looked liked scoring is irrelevant. This being the first time I’ve seen a whole Spurs game though, I’m still a little concerned that we play good football in areas that are not dangerous and that our only tactic for creating chances is a big hoof up to one forward marked by two players. We can’t rely on the defence keeping us in the game because being under pressure for long periods will inevitably lead to mistakes. Hopefully when the Russians arrive we’ll have more attacking options.

Finally all the usual suspects, Jenas, Lennon and Huddlestone again simply didn’t look good enough.

The Russians are coming

Well this is one Russian invasion that will be welcomed.

Shameful

That this could ever happen in this country fills me with shame.

There’s a lot to agree with here

BBC SPORT | Steve Wilson blog

It is an important week for Spurs and indeed Ramos. I’ve stated previously that I’m not 100% sure of him and nothing he’s done at the start of the season has made me change my mind. League cup win or not, Jenas, Lennon, Huddlestone, Zakora, Bent, Dawson are all not good enough. The only saving grace is that Arsenal don’t look so hot at the moment !

The season is unravelling already

BBC SPORT | Football | Premier League | Tottenham 1-2 Sunderland

Two games in and it looks like we’re in trouble already. As Gus Poyet admits we’ve only got one striker and that one striker is Darren “I can do it in friendlies” Bent. The problem goes deeper than that: we are still giving games to people like Lennon who are simply not good enough. Our next two games are against Villa and Chelsea so there’s not many points there by the looks of things.
